I just discovered Edward Payson Roe. Since he personally observed the Great Chicago Fire, this was interesting as historical fiction in addition to being an entertaining romance and valuable to the Christian for its spiritual insights. It is VERY Christian, with lots of biblical quotes, so if you don't like that, stay away. I got annoyed at the hero of the story for being so besotted with the girl, but he "manned up" later on. Nevertheless, I couldn't give five stars to a story wherein the hero annoyed me that way. But I liked it enough to want to reread it later on.Product details

I just discovered Edward Payson Roe.
